This stunning lithograph, printed in Paris, France, derives from George Rodrigue’s painting of the same name— an image he created in 2010 as a wine label for Napa Valley winemaker Heidi Barrett’s award-winning rosé, Prêt à Boire.
“The color pink is just before blue on the color wheel,” explained George Rodrigue. “The dog is preparing to change, to ripen. I tried to show that it’s the beginning of things. The wine is ready to drink, the flowers are blooming, and the dog is ready to turn blue.” LEARN MORE
About this special and traditional print-making process, Rodrigue explained, “Unlike my silkscreens, this print comes from an original painting. I also worked with fifteen other artists and craftsmen to make this happen. Each person specializes in a different field including separating the colors, etching the stone, and hand-printing the colors individually, layered one on top of the other, creating a continuous tone image similar to an original painting.” LEARN MORE
