Beginning in the early 1980s, George Rodrigue created dozens of posters for local festivals. He sold thousands of these offset lithographs, each benefiting the festival’s community. Among those festivals were the Crawfish Festival in Beaux Bridge, the Festival Acadiens in Lafayette, the New Iberia’s Cajun Fun Fest, and many small town Mardi Gras festivals. Some of the more popular festival prints were from a series of silkscreens he did for three consecutive years for Shreveport’s Red River Revel, beginning in 1997. The silkscreen created as the official poster for the Red River Revel in 1998 is Pop Goes the Revel, which features the Blue Dog with a jack-in-the-box.
