Although it was Rodrigue’s female dog Tiffany that inspired the shape for the Blue Dog Series, Rodrigue usually referenced the dog in his paintings as “he.”  Known to many as the ‘Blue Dog Man,’ Rodrigue often explained, “With my Cajun paintings, I preserved the past; but in my Blue Dog paintings, I comment on life today.”

About the painting Going Out to Party, featured in the book Blue Dog Love (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, 2001), Rodrigue joked, “As a young man I impressed the girls with this mod tie.  Wendy was not impressed.”
