George Rodrigue created the silkscreen print Big Texan Sky<\/em> on the occasion of his exhibition, Blue Dogs in Texas<\/em>, opening at the Amarillo Museum of Art in 2012. Back then Rodrigue told Amarillo Magazine that the Blue Dog has \u201cblended well into Texas for a long time, probably second only to Louisiana.\u201d Having not finished signing the edition prior to his passing, George Rodrigue’s estate has now completed the edition with an estate stamp (#s 225-290).

\nBig Texan Sky<\/em> celebrates the iconography and landscape of the Lone Star State. \"GeorgeRodrigue often remarked on the difference between the open, expansive landscape of Texas and the dense, oak tree accented landscape of Louisiana. In Big Texan Sky<\/em> he emphasizes that openness by making the sky the majority of the print\u2019s background. The aptly accessorized Blue Dog stretches almost the full height of the print; the sky and the Blue Dog are both bigger in Texas.<\/p>\n
