\"\"Situated behind St. Louis Cathedral, St. Anthony\u2019s Garden is one of New Orleans\u2019 oldest garden spaces, dating back to the early 17th century. \u00a0Dedicated to the memory of the namesake, longtime Spanish friar Antonio de Sedella, also known as \u201cP\u00e8re Antoine,\u201d the garden has been a longtime fixture of beauty in the heart of the Vieux Carr\u00e9, having undergone several redesigns over the years. \u00a0Following damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, French landscape designer Louis Benech was hired to renew the garden in 2008. \u00a0His design employed a geometric arrangement of clipped hedges, a red brick pathway lining the garden\u2019s perimeter, with a cross-shaped, mowed area in the center and multiple squares of ornamental grasses.<\/p>\n

\"\"To compliment this stunning renovated garden, George Rodrigue painted\u00a0The St. Louis Garden<\/em>\u00a0in 2011 specifically to hang in the narrow, corner window of his Royal Street gallery, adjacent to the St. Louis Cathedral and alongside P\u00e8re Antoine Alley (pictured). Two heads of the Blue Dog seem to be floating against ribbons of bold colors above the blooms below, with a bright swirling sun over head.<\/p>\n
