\u201cDance with Me Henry<\/i> is one of the first Rock & Roll songs I bought as a teenager,\u201d recalled Rodrigue. \u00a0\u201cMy cousin Charmaine worked at the music store in New Iberia and picked out five 78-rpm records, including another favorite, Hearts Made of Stone<\/i> by the Fontane Sisters. \u00a0I was in the 7th grade, and I listened to those records over and over again. \u00a0The songs stuck with me, and I later paid tribute to the music and the memories in my paintings.\u201d \u00a0Read more<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

As he did since the 1990s while assisting George Rodrigue, Tony Bernard of Lafayette, Louisiana continues to oversee printmaking from Rodrigue\u2019s designs:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years, George and I produced several silkscreen editions from his Cajun paintings,\u201d explains Bernard. \u00a0\u201cThe silkscreens are of the highest quality available, printed using a 4-color CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) process, which George found to be the best way of reproducing these complex paintings in print form. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEach of the four colors creates a dot pattern that varies in closeness and density to make up the thousands of colors that are in the painting. \u00a0Although invisible to the naked eye, this \u2018dot pattern\u2019 appears under a magnifier, showing how it creates varying saturations of color depending on how tightly the dots are applied. \u00a0We run one color at a time, and each color is dry before applying the next one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
