As George Rodrigue began exploring the Blue Dog’s possibilities in the early 1990s, he painted works that removed any reference to the dog\u2019s Cajun origins as a representation of the loup-garou. Two Can Play This Game<\/em> is one of those paintings that puts the Blue Dog into a modern context. Here Rodrigue paints two overlapping Blue Dogs amongst blocks of bright, saturated color. The painting features a Blue Dog and its alter ego, the Red Dog. Rodrigue began painting the Red Dog in the early 1990s as the Blue Dog\u2019s occasionally mischievous counterpart.
