\"\"George Rodrigue began his career by portraying on his canvas the Cajuns of South Louisiana and what he feared was his dying heritage \u2013 including its oak trees, people, traditions, and mythology.\u00a0 He sought to \u201cgraphically interpret the Cajun culture,\u201d preserving it in the face of a progressive world.<\/p>\n

Beginning in the early 1990s Rodrigue’s Blue Dog Series, based on the French-Cajun loup-garou legend, became an internationally known icon of pop art and catapulted the artist to worldwide recognition.
